What 2x, and solo duo trio quad, mean on Rust Console
Two numbers decide what a Rust Console community server feels like: how fast you gather, and how big a team can be. Here is what each one means, with the settings GRUBZ 2X actually runs.
The rates
An official server is 1x: one tree is one tree. A 2x server doubles what comes out of the world. Everything else — the map, the guns, the raid costs — is the game as shipped.
- Gather 2x
- Every node, tree and animal gives 2 times vanilla. A stone node that would give 500 gives 1000.
- Loot 2x
- Crates, barrels and bodies hold 2 times what they would on an official.
- Stacks 3x
- Stacks are 3 times deeper, so a base needs a third of the boxes and you spend less time sorting them.
- Crafting
- Instant. No queue, no waiting on a workbench, no timer on a code lock.
- Smelting
- One piece of wood runs a furnace forever. 3x cook speed and 2x output: the whole loop runs at 6x vanilla.
- Map
- 4500 procedural, small enough that you run into people, with the same monuments as an official.
Solo, duo, trio, quad
The other half of a server’s name is the team cap. “Solo duo trio quad” means any team up to four: play alone, with one friend, or with three. It never means five. On console the cap is a server setting Double Eleven calls Max Team Size, and it can also cap who is allowed to build and who a turret will not shoot.

- 4, enforced by the game. Building authorisation and turret authorisation are capped at 4 as well, so a fifth player rotating in cannot be added to the cupboard.
- What it means for a solo
- The biggest thing that can come through your wall is four people. Combined with offline raid protection, a solo can build, log off, and still have the base in the morning.
- What it means for a quad
- You are the biggest team on the server. There is no zerg above you, and every fight is at worst four on four.
Why 2x and not 5x
Higher rates mean a shorter grind and a shorter wipe: at 5x and up everyone is in metal by the first evening and the raids start the same night. At 2x a good 4-man team has a base worth defending by the weekend and the wipe still has a middle, a late game, and a reason to log in on day ten. That is the rate GRUBZ 2X runs, with offline raid protection and two map wipes a month, so a person with a job can see a whole wipe.
Questions
What does 2x mean on a Rust Console server?
Every tree, node, animal and crate gives twice what it gives on an official server. On GRUBZ 2X gather is 2x, loot is 2x, stacks are 3x and crafting is instant. The game is the same; the grind is half as long.
What do solo, duo, trio and quad mean?
The biggest team the server allows: one, two, three or four players. A "solo duo trio quad" server caps teams at four, so you never face a ten-man clan. On GRUBZ 2X the cap is 4, and building and turret authorisation are capped to match, so the game enforces it.
Is 2x good for a solo player?
It is the rate most solos pick. A solo on vanilla spends the wipe gathering; on 2x with instant craft a solo has a stone base and a workbench on the first night and time left to fight.
Is 2x the same as modded?
On console every community server is a settings server: Double Eleven lets owners change rates, team size, stack size and craft time, not add plugins. "Modded" on console means the rates are not vanilla; the items, the map and the raid mechanics are the game's own.
