GRUBZ 2X

What is offline raid protection on Rust Console?

It means you can only be raided while you are online. Log off, and your base is still there when you come back. This page is how it works on GRUBZ 2X, a Rust Console community server, and the honest list of what it does not do.

Why it exists

On a vanilla server the raid comes at 4 AM, when nobody is home to defend. Most of the people who quit Rust quit there. Offline raid protection is for players with jobs and school and families: you play your evenings, you go to bed, and the wipe you built is still yours in the morning. The fights still happen. They happen while both sides are on.

How to switch it on

  1. Stand inside your base

In the middle of it. The protected area is a circle of 45 metres around the spot where you say the phrase, so the door is the wrong place to stand.

  2. Say “Can I build here?” on the quick chat

It is one of the game’s built-in quick chats, so it works on PS5 and Xbox with no typing. Chat answers with a question.

  3. Answer Yes

Chat confirms: your fort is set, 45m around you, and the date it expires. That is the whole setup. There is nothing to claim in Discord and nothing to buy.

What it does

Arms
30 minutes after the last member of your team logs off. Until then the base is open, so a team that logs off mid-raid does not get saved by it.
Opens
The moment any one of you logs back in. Chat tells you so on login.
Covers
Building damage inside the 45m circle. Walls, doors, foundations, the tool cupboard. Everything inside the fort holds while it is armed.
Lasts
7 days, then it needs renewing: chat warns you the day before and asks when you are inside. It also ends with every wipe, because the map it stood on is gone.
Per team
One fort. Say the phrase at a new base and answer Yes to move it. Teams are the game’s own teams, capped at 4 here.

What it does not do

It does not make you unraidable. While any of your team is online, you are a normal Rust base. It does not stop someone building next to you, camping your door, or taking the loot you left outside the circle. It does not protect a base nobody set it on, and it does not follow you to a new base until you move it. And it is not a wall: a team that wants your loot can still take it, they just have to do it while you can shoot back.

Questions

What is offline raid protection on Rust Console?

A server rule that stops your base taking raid damage while your whole team is logged off. On GRUBZ 2X it is a fort you set once with the "Can I build here?" quick chat; it arms 30 minutes after the last of you logs out and opens again the moment one of you logs in.

How do I turn it on?

Stand inside your base, say "Can I build here?" on the quick chat, and answer Yes when chat asks. Chat confirms the fort is set and tells you when it expires. Nothing to buy, no Discord needed.

When does it actually protect me?

Only while every member of your team is offline, and only 30 minutes after the last one logs out. While any of you is on, the base can be raided like any other.

How big is the protected area?

45 metres in every direction from where you stood when you said the phrase, so say it in the middle of the base, not at the door.

Does it expire?

After 7 days, and after every wipe. Chat warns you the day before and offers to renew it when you are inside. A fort on a wiped map is gone with the map, so set it again on the new one.

Can I have more than one?

One per team. Say the phrase at a new base and answer Yes to move it there; the old one is released.

Does it work on PS5 and Xbox?

Yes. It is a server-side rule, so it is the same on every platform, and it is the same for a solo as for a team of 4.
